Safe Halloween at Mason Hall

The women's basketball team helped out with the annual "Safe Halloween" on the campus of Fredonia on Saturday October 31st. The event took place in Mason Hall and the girls eagerly handed out candy to boys and girls of all ages from the surrounding communities. The event was a huge success based on the amount of candy that was given out during the 3 hour period. Captain Sabrina Macaulay dressed in 60's attire made a huge hit with the Wizard of Oz family, as well as a neon princess. Emily lasher, Khee Nance, and Jenna Einick were joined by a birthday cake girl. Great fun was had by all.

Think Pink!
We play for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund

On February 7th, the Women's basketball team will wear pink uniforms as part of their commitment to raise awareness and money for the Kay Yow Cancer fund. This foundation was created in 2007 from the vision of the organization's namesake and former North Carolina State University head women's basketball coach. Through events, fundraising and partnerships, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund supports research, provides grants and drives inspiration in the fight against women's cancers.
The Women will  hold a free throw shooting competition to help raise money to be donated to this fund. Anyone that wishes to help may donate to a player directly or contact the basketball office. Please join us in our efforts! The game will immediately follow the men's game with tip-off being around 7:30 pm

Women Open With Win on the Road

Sophomore Alexis Cheatham

The women's basketball team opened with a 75-64 victory on the road at Alfred State. The team was led by Alexis Cheatham with 23 points and junior Sabrina Macaulay with 13 points and 14 rebounds for her first double/double of the season. The Blue Devils used a fast start to propel themselves to a non-conference win. Two other Blue Devils also scored in double figures to lead a balanced attack. The women are on the road again on Tuesdaynight as they travel to Pitt-Bradford in another non-conference match-up.

Introducing: Kaylyn Billups Senior #21

My name is Kaylyn Billups. I’m from Buffalo New York and I graduated from Charter High School for Applied Technologies. I am currently a senior majoring in psychology and minoring in business administration. After graduation I hope to attend graduate school studying higher education. Basketball runs in my family. My brother played two years at Medaille and my cousin Amir played here at Fredonia until graduating in 2013. The main reason I came to Fredonia was to play basketball.  Once I found out that I had gotten a chance to continue playing the game that I love so much it was no turning back. Fredonia is a great place to play and I’m happy I furthered my education here.

10th Annual Fall Sweep!

Community Service "LEAFS" a good feeling

The team participated in 10th Annual Fall Sweep community service project on Sunday, November 9th. The project organized by the ACA and attended by more than 700 Fredonia students was a HUGE success on a cold and damp morning.

Everyone met in the Williams Center and the team readied itself for the Sweep by having a little breakfast and listening to President Horvath, Vice President Herman and dignitaries from the ACA. Once they had finished speaking, the team headed to their destination on Central Avenue. Joined by the  Women's Tennis team and Sigma Gamma Phi sorority, the team moved a mountain of leaves, much to the delight of the Presbyterian Church followers that provided donuts and cider to the "sweepers."

The team was visited by President Horvath and her furry friend, "Freddy." The team really enjoyed working together and as Emily Barrett commented, "...Enjoyed working together with my whole team." Job well done!

Athletes Supporting Athletes 2014

The girls headed to campus on Saturday, October 4th to support athletes in some of the fall sports programs. After stopping to watch some tennis, the team headed over to the soccer stadium to watch a very exciting men's game between the Blue Devils and rival Buffalo State. After braving the elements complete with face paint and t-shirts, the team then ventured into Dods Hall to watch the Blue Devil women's volleyball game.

It was a great experience to support the other teams and their athletes and coaches.
